6 Duas during Ramadan in 2024
Prophet (peace be upon him) didn’t mention any specific duas during Ramadan or supplications for the month of Ramadan, however, there are specific duas for fasting and breaking your fast.
Ramadan is the Holy month for Muslims, During this month muslims increase their worship, and good deeds. Ramadan is the weapon for the believers of Islam to increase their rituals and good deeds.

1. Dua when you see the crescent moon
When you see the crescent moon of the month of Ramadan, recite this dua and share this news with your friends and family.
اللَّهمَّ أَهلَّهُ علينَا بالأمنِ والإيمانِ والسَّلامةِ والإسلامِ ربِّي وربُّكَ اللَّهُ
Allahumma ahillahu alayna bil-amni wal-iman was-salaamati wal-islam. Rabbi wa rabbuka Allah.
Oh Allah, make it a start full of peace, faith, safety, and Islam. My lord and your lord is Allah.

2. Dua for opening the fast

You should recite dua before eating food for the intent of fasting. Whether eating a small thing like dates and bread, you must recite dua before fasting.
Dua to recite before fasting is;
وَبِصَوْمِ غَدٍ نَّوَيْتُ مِنْ شَهْرِ رَمَضَانَ
Wa bisaumi ghadin nawaiytu min shahri ramadan.
I intend to keep the fast for tomorrow in the month of Ramadan.
After eating food for fasting, prepare yourself for namaz e fajr, and make intent to do good deeds all over the day.
3. The dua for breaking your fast
Before breaking your fast (Iftar) during Ramadan, it’s important to consider a few things to ensure a healthy and fulfilling experience:

اللهم إني لك صمت وبك آمنت وعلى رزقك أفطرتُ
Allahumma inni laka sumtu wa bika aamantu wa ‘ala rizq-ika aftarthu
“O Allah, for You I have fasted, and with Your provision, I break my fast.”

Dates and Water
Following the tradition of Prophet Muhammad, start by eating a few dates and drinking water. This helps replenish glucose levels and rehydrates the body.

When someone expresses anger towards you while you are fasting, it’s important to respond with patience and restraint, as maintaining good behavior and controlling one’s emotions are key aspects of fasting in Islam.
Take a moment to control your thoughts, remain calm in this condition, and try to control your emotions in this moment.
This is the dua to recite when someone makes you angry while you are fasting.
اللَّهمَّ إنَّك عفُوٌّ تُحبُّ العفوَ فاعْفُ عنِّي
Allahumma innaka afuwwun tuhibbu al-afwa fa’fu anni.
Oh Allah you are forgiving, and you love forgiveness, so forgive me.
5. Dua for breaking your fast with the group of people
Start the iftar with a collective dua, expressing gratitude and seeking blessings. This fosters a sense of unity and shared spirituality.
Recite this dua while you are breaking fast with a group of people
أفطر عندكم الصائمون ، وأكل طعامكم الأبرار ، وصلت عليكم الملائكة
aftara indakum as-saa’imoon, wa akala ta’aamakum al-abraar, wa sallat alaikum al-malaa’ikah
May the fasting people break fast at your place, and may the pious eat from your food, and may the angels pray for you
During group iftar, start with a communal dua for blessings. Adhere to Sunnah by breaking fast with dates and water. Wait for the Maghrib call to prayer. Be generous and considerate, sharing a variety of foods.

6. Dua to recite in Laila tul Qadar or in other odd nights of Ramadan
Laylat al-Qadr, also known as the Night of Power or Decree, is considered one of the holiest nights in Islam. It occurs during the last ten nights of Ramadan, with an emphasis on the odd-numbered nights.
Here is the dua that you should recite during the Shab e laila tul qadr or the night of laila tul qadr. You can also recite this dua in the all-odd nights of Ramadan.
اللَّهمَّ إنَّك عفُوٌّ تُحبُّ العفوَ فاعْفُ عنِّي
